READY, SET, GO!! BEGINNING KNITTING 101

(Six 2-hour sessions; $145)

Monday:  January 28 – March 11 (1:00-3:00PM or 6:00 – 8:00PM)
Saturday: January 19 – February 23 (10:00AM- 12:00PM) 

Monday: February 25– April 01 (1:00 – 3:00PM or 6:00- 8:00PM)


Here’s your chance to learn all the basics to start your first knitting projects. Topics include: Casting-on and off, knitting and purling, increasing and decreasing. The class does not make a single project but rather a collection of swatches demonstrating the various techniques so that you get plenty of practice. Instructors will gladly help you pick out your first ‘real’ knitting project at the conclusion of the class.

BEGIN TO CROCHET 101

(Four 2-hour sessions; $100)

Sunday: January 20 – February 10 (2:00-4:00PM) 

Sunday: February 24 – March 17 (2:00-4:00PM)


Discover your hidden crochet skills – Learn the basic stitches in crochet. Stitches perfect on it’s own or for adding those finishing touches to knitted garments. Topics include: concepts of crochet, basic crochet stitch.
 
ADVANCED BEGINNER KNITTING

(Five 2-hour sessions every other week; $165)

Tuesday: On going (6:30 – 8:30PM)
Wednesday: On going (11:00-1:00PM)


Want to start a new knitting project but nervous about doing it on your own? In this class get the extra help you need to improve your techniques. This is a great time to graduate from scarves to hats and bags to even, yes socks. This class is project-based; you pick the project you want to work on and the instructor will guide you through the entire process. Topics include: measuring for gauge, reading patterns, shaping. **For students with some knitting experience.

YOUR FIRST MITTEN CLASS

(Two 3-Hr. Sessions; $95)
Wednesday: January 16 – January 23 (6:00PM – 9:00PM)
Wednesday: January 30 – February 6 (6:00PM – 9:00PM)  


Learn to make a pair of cozy mittens. These mittens make great gifts for everyone on your list. Participants in this workshop will learn how knit in the round on double pointed needles and using basic mitten construction (e.g. knit a thumb gusset, use stitch markers, increase and decrease, put stitches on a holder.
Pre-work required: please cast on 36 stitches and work 2 inches (5 cm) of stocking stitch in the round.
 
THE HAPPY SOCK CLASS

(Four, 2-Hr. Sessions; $95)

Wednesday: February 13 – March 6 (6:00 – 8:00PM)  

Saturday: March 2 – March 23 (10:30AM-12:30PM)
Learn patterns, techniques and short row shaping to create fun socks. **Participants must already know how to knit and purl. Familiarity with double pointed knitting is a plus, but not prerequisites.

YOUR FIRST HAT CLASS

(Two, 1 1/2-Hr. Sessions; $65)

Thursday: January 17 – January 24 (5:00PM-7:00PM)
Wednesday: February 13 – February 20 (3:00PM – 4:30PM)

Take this class to learn how to knit your first hat. You will learn to knit in the round on both circular and double pointed needles. You’ll learn to cast on, join your stitches without twisting them, knit and purl in the round, decrease to shape the crown.
Prerequisites: Already know how to knit and purl.

JUST ME & YOU, PRIVATE SESSIONS

(One-Hour Sessions; By Appointment; ($50)
 

Get the undivided attention of a knitting expert as you work on your knitting project. In these private sessions, learn step-by-step how to perfect your current knitting technique.

 SWEATER WORKSHOP  


(Five, 2-Hour Sessions every other week) ($185) 

Thursday: On going (6:00-8:00PM) 


Is that designer sweater in the shop window too much for your budget? Want a sweater dress or jacket? How about making your own?! This is no ordinary sweater class — not only will you learn how to adjust your sweater to your specific fit, this class will also teach you professional techniques for determining the best color and texture for your sweater along with the best means for knitting and finishing. Participants must select their project prior to beginning their first class at Newbury Yarns.

I AM DONE KNITTING-NOW WHAT DO I DO? FINISHING TECHNIQUES 


(One, 3-Hr. Session) ($95)

Done knitting but your project is not finished? Learn finishing techniques including picking up stitches, sewing seams, tucking ends and blocking.

CABLES & BOBBLES 

(One, 3-Hr. Session) ($95)

This class will be the perfect opportunity to learn crossover stitches to create one of the most dynamic patterns for your garment.


FAIR ISLE KNITTING 


(One, 3-Hr. Session; $95)
Sunday: January 27 (1:00-4:00PM)  


Tired of knitting with one color? Feeling blue from knitting with only blue? In this workshop, you will learn how to knit with multiple colors to create vibrant knitted wears.
 
HOW DO I FIX THIS?! 


(One, 2-Hr Session; $45)  Anytime

Learn how to fix common mistakes and knitting hang-ups to get your project back on track.

CLASS POLICIES

• Classes and workshops must have a minimum of 4 students, and the
maximum is 8 students unless otherwise stated.
Newbury Yarns reserves the right to cancel any offered classes or
workshops if the 4 – student minimum is not met.
A full refund will be given should this situation occur.

• Classes must be paid for in advance to reserve your seat. Seats
Can not be held otherwise.

• Class fees are non-refundable and do not include supplies.

• Cancellations for classes must be made at least 7 days before the start
of the class session. If you miss a single class, you may make it up by
attending an alternate class that week. Individual make-up sessions
are not available. Please speak to the class instructor in advance to
see if any alternate classes are available.

• We strive to keep the cost of workshops low, so we ask that your
yarn and supplies be purchased from Newbury Yarns.
